The Parks and Recreation Department oversees the city's parks system, recreation facilities, and programming, as well as any activities related to special events and tourism.
  • The Parks Division manages city parks and green space, oversees all city-owned tree and urban forestry activities, and provides grass mowing and landscaping maintenance services on all city property.
  • The Recreation Division provides recreational and athletic opportunities to the community, including youth and adult sports, programs for the Special Olympics, senior programs, film management, citywide cultural arts, and special events, such as Azalea Festival and the Fourth of July fireworks show.

What is the cancellation policy for Garden & Shelter Reservations?

  • Cancellations by lessee will be made 72 hours before scheduled event. No refunds shall be issued due to inclement weather. If cancellation is made 72 hours before scheduled event, then a household credit will be issued for use for future reservation or other City program or activity. Cancellations by the City of Wilmington will result in either a household credit to your account or the rescheduling of new date.

How do I report a maintenance issue within a park or greenspace?

  • Please contact the main office at 910-341-7855 or email info@wilmingtonrecreation.com. Users are encouraged to also report issues through our maintenance portal, here.

Can I have amplified music or close a street for my event?

  • Both may require a special event permit and must follow city regulations. Amplified sound must comply with the noise ordinance, and street closures require permits (with possible fees, insurance, and approvals depending on event size). For questions about amplified music, contact 910-343-3600 or send an email. For event permits, email Info@wilmingtonrecreation.com.

How do I register for programs and events?

  • Users are encouraged to register online through the Parks & Recreation registration portal (e.g., WebTrac) or in person at designated community centers. Users may contact the Main Office at 910-341-7855 for immediate questions.

Are there indoor rental spaces or community rooms available for meetings or parties?

How long does it take for a security deposit to be returned?

  • The security deposit is refundable upon compliance with facility policies. Typically, a security deposit is retuned, via check, to the address on file within RecTrac/WebTrac. This process takes approximately 8 - 10 business days.

How do I report a lost and found item from a park or facility?

  • Contact the facility or main office directly (910-341-7855). Items are typically held on site for a limited period.

Can I book tee times online?

  • Yes. Go to wilmingtonmuni.com → “Tee Times” → “Reserve Tee Times Online.” Select players (no singles), date, and “Search.” Add to cart, create an account if needed, and checkout. You’ll get a confirmation email. Pay at the pro shop upon arrival. No-shows may lose booking privileges. To cancel, call 910-791-0558.
