Seasonal Camps & Programs

The City of Wilmington’s Parks & Recreation Department offers a wide array of seasonal programming opportunities. We believe that camps should provide the user with a safe environment in which to develop new skills and talents. Camp-based programming is also a place where children, and teens, develop a variety of social skills useful for conflict resolution and leadership. Join us in this special type of seasonal program where we all come together to have fun!  

Davis Center at Maides Park

Summer Camp

Please join us at the Davis Center at Maides Park for a seven-week half-day summer camp! This program typically operates from June to August, but does not operate during the week of July 4th, nor Juneteenth (June 19). Dates to be announced for 2025!

Age: 5 - 12

Fee: $20/week

This program includes: 

  • Field Trips
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Pool Trips
  • Sports
  • Enrichment Periods/Activities

Spring Break Camp

Join us at the Davis Center at Maides Park (1101 Manly Ave) for Spring Break Camp.

Age: 6 - 12

Fee: $30/participant 

Dates: TBA for 2025

Times: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

 

Halyburton Park

Spring Break Nature Bonanza

Keep your brain from growing sluggish over Spring Break and join us for a morning jam-packed with activities, experiments, crafts and games- all focused on the wonderful wildlife of Halyburton! Register here!

Age: 5+

Fee: $3/participant 

Date: Thursday, April 3, 2025

Times: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

MLK Center at Robert Strange Park

Summer Camp

Please join us at the MLK Center for a seven-week full-day summer camp! This program typically operates from June to August. Camp will not operate during the week of July Fourth, nor on Juneteenth (June 19). This camp also includes a Teen Camp (select weeks). Dates for 2025 to be announced! 

Age: 7 - 11; 12 - 14 (Teen Camp)

Fee: $30/week

This program includes: 

  • Field Trips
  • College Tours
  • Outdoor Trips
  • Sports & Leadership Training
  • Enrichment Periods/Activities

Spring Break Camp

Join us at the MLK Center (401 S. 8th Street) for Spring Break Camp.

Age: 6 - 12

Fee: $30/participant 

Dates: TBA for 2025

Times: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Great Pumpkin Hunt

Please join the MLK Center in their annual 'Great Pumpkin Hunt' event on November 1, 2024. This fall celebration will include crafts, games, food, and fun for all! Register here.

Fencing Program

Please join Wilmington Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Cape Fear Fencing Association, from Wednesday, September 18 - November 6, for our newly established (and VERY special) Fencing Program! Bring your friends, learn how to clash swords, and let your inner pirate shine through!

Location: MLK Community Center

Time: 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Ages: 8+ (as of September 18, 2024)

  • Be sure to look for other camp/program options in case your first choice is full (If the MLK/Davis Center Summer Camps are full, please fill out the interest form HERE). This form will OPEN on February 1, 2025 and will CLOSE on Monday, August 11, 2025.
