Following a unanimous vote by City Council on Tuesday, August 19, the City of Wilmington has appointed Chief Ryan Zuidema as its next chief of police, concluding a nationwide search. “I am honored to be chosen as Wilmington’s next Chief of Police,” said Chief Zuidema. “Wilmington is a vibrant and diverse city with a deep sense of community pride. I look forward to working alongside the talented men and women of the Wilmington Police Department to strengthen public safety, build trust through transparency, and partner with residents, businesses, and community organizations to address the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
