Cape Fear Creek Week provides opportunities for the community to connect with, celebrate, and care for the local waterways of the Cape Fear Region. Creek Week will be held March 14 - 21, 2026 with educational presentations, nature hikes, and more.

The City of Wilmington's Heal Our Waterways Program will be participating in Cape Fear Creek Week in a variety of ways:

All Week: Virtual Bingo with NC Cooperative Extension. Celebrate local waterways on your own time with Virtual Bingo! Complete activities in the bingo squares to finish a bingo by March 23. Send a photo of your completed bingo to healourwaterways@wilmingtonnc.gov to win a free swag bag! Must be able to pick up prize in the City of Wilmington to be eligible. Bingo sheets will be available shortly before the start of Cape Fear Creek Week!

Monday, March 16: Green Infrastructure Stormwater Tour with UNCW Sustainability. Get a behind-the-scenes look at green infrastructure projects that were installed to help support the Bradley and Hewletts Creeks Watershed Restoration Plan. Learn more about rain gardens, permeable pavers, and other nature-based solutions through this fun walking tour!

Friday, March 20: Mad Mole Brewery Sustainability Tour. Learn more about sustainable brewing practices and a recently completed paver project in support of the Bradley and Hewletts Creeks Watershed Restoration Plan. Stop by educational tables from Heal Our Waterways Program and North Carolina Coastal Federation before or after the tour to learn more about the grant partnership with Mad Mole, restoration efforts, and nature-based stormwater solutions.
