Compost Your Pumpkin to Give it New Life

Published on November 04, 2026

Halloween Pumpkin

Give your pumpkins new life as animal feed and compost with the 8th annual pumpkin collection coordinated by NC Coastal Composting. All collected pumpkins will be used as animal feed and compost returning nutrients to our land. Compost not only provides a natural option to fertilize plants, but it can also improve infiltration and water retention in soil.

Pumpkins will be collected Monday, Nov. 2 through Monday, Nov. 9., and Friday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 11.

Prior to dropping off your pumpkins, please remove candles, googly eyes, and any plastic. Painted pumpkins not accepted unless bio-based paint was used.
