The City of Wilmington invites residents of all ages to attend Demo Day, a free, hands-on community event celebrating National Public Works Week and the people, equipment, and services that help keep Wilmington running every day.
Thursday, May 21
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
City Hall South Lot
929 N. Front St.
Themed “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” Demo Day offers the public a unique opportunity to get an up-close look at the vehicles, tools, technology, and teams behind essential City services. From stormwater management and traffic engineering to urban forestry, fleet maintenance, solid waste services, and landscaping, attendees will experience firsthand how public works professionals serve the community every day.
The event will feature:
- Live equipment demonstrations
- Interactive exhibits and educational displays
- Opportunities to meet City staff and learn about public service careers
- Local food trucks on site
Families, students, educators, and job seekers are encouraged to attend. Children can explore large vehicles and heavy equipment up close, while students and young professionals can learn about career pathways in fields such as engineering, environmental services, urban forestry, mechanics, drone operations, and more.
The event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the South Lot of Skyline Center.
