Healthy Kids Day is the Y's national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families. The City of Wilmington's Parks & Recreation Department is proud to partner the Y to make this event a possibility.
Healthy Kids Day is a one-day festival held at Empie Park on Saturday, April 18th, 2026. The festival will operate between the hours of 9:30 AM & 1 PM. This is the 13th year with the City of Wilmington and the YMCA of Southeastern NC partnering together to present this fun filled day! This is a free community event that will offer families the opportunity to participate in active play and educational opportunities designed to improve health and wellness. As part of the Y’s and City’s commitment to strengthening community by addressing critical gaps in health and education, Healthy Kids Day will encourage kids and parents to commit to keeping the body and mind active now and throughout the year.

Free admission and free events include: - 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk - Sports Stations - Face Painting - Bouncy Houses - Community Booths -Tons of free giveaways and prizes! This is a FREE event, but you are encouraged to register to secure your Healthy Kids Day shirt. Shirts are available to the first 300 kids to sign up.
