In honor of National Parks & Recreation Month for July, the City's Parks & Rec Department is hosting a variety of open houses to promote their facilities and offerings. All are free to attend and open to the public to come learn more, but the time and locations vary. 

Fit For Fun

Time: 9 a.m. to noon

What's Happening

• Special visit from WPD officers handing out ice pops
• 10 session passes will be sold at 25% off for the day
• Parachute play scheduled for 10 a.m.
• Outside bubbles scheduled for 11 a.m.

Davis Center & Cultural Programs

Time: Noon to 2 p.m.

What's Happening

• Creation stations and family art projects, including mini mosaics, mini clay sculptures, mini canvases, collages, and card making for first responders
• Basketball open gym
• Giant game stations: Cornhole, Tetris, Jenga, Guess Who?
• Cape Fear Museum outreach table

Halyburton Park

Time: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

• Nature scavenger hunt

Sherriedale Morgan Fitness Center

Time: 9 a.m. to noon

What's Happening

• Facility is free and open to the public for use and tours
• Yoga class at 10 a.m.
• Group fitness class at 11 a.m.
• 25% discount offered for purchasing a new membership (available for anyone who has never been a member)

Time: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Relay games: running relay, cone relay, water relay, and basketball relay
