What do you enjoy most about working at the Althea Gibson Tennis Complex, and what makes it such a special place for the community?
What I enjoy most about working at the Althea Gibson Tennis Complex is getting to know the people who come through and seeing how tennis brings everyone together. There’s such a strong sense of community here, and it’s fun to see people of all different ages and skill levels enjoying the sport. Whether someone has been playing for years or is picking up a racquet for the first time, there’s a place for them here. I think that welcoming atmosphere and the relationships people build are what make the complex so special.
For someone who’s never participated in a tennis clinic before, what can they expect from the upcoming fall clinics, and why would you encourage them to give one a try?
Someone coming to a clinic for the first time can expect a fun, welcoming environment where they can learn and improve without feeling intimidated. The fall clinics are a great opportunity to work on the basics, develop your skills, get some exercise, and meet other people who enjoy being active. You definitely don’t have to be an experienced tennis player to participate! I would encourage anyone who’s interested to give it a try because it’s a great way to learn something new, build confidence on the court, and become part of the tennis community.
