The Wilmington Police Department offers FREE Women's Self Defense Training Course. The training will consist of four classes that are taking place in June 2026 (dates above) between 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Haynes/Lacewell Police and Fire Training Facility at 3100 Hurst Street. The training will be taught by female officers from the Wilmington Police Department.   

Requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years of age 
  • You must be able to attend all four classes due to a long wait list.
  • Prior to admission into the course a criminal background check will be conducted to determine suitability for admission to the course

 

Additional Information

  • The first night will be in the classroom. The following three classes will consist of performing physical activity. Wear comfortable clothing that you can freely move in.

How to apply

Step 1.Complete the Criminal History Release Form, found below, and save it your computer.

Step 3.Take the two completed forms above and attach them to the Self Defense Class Application found here:
