Councilmember Salette Andrews Appointed to Federal Committee
Published on January 30, 2026
Wilmington City Councilmember Salette Andrews has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2026 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) Federal Advocacy Committee. She was reelected to a third one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on sustainability, climate change, community resilience, water infrastructure, solid waste management, and more.
“Wilmington is a coastal city on the front lines of climate change, where issues like flooding, water quality, and resilient infrastructure aren’t abstract: they affect our neighborhoods, our economy, and our future,” Andrews said. “Serving on the National League of Cities’ Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee ensures that Wilmington’s real-world challenges and solutions help shape federal policy, while also bringing home the resources and partnerships our community needs to grow sustainably and protect what makes our city special.”
As a member of NLC’s EENR Committee, Councilmember Andrews will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns, and villages before Congress, with the administration, and at home in Wilmington, NC.
“The National League of Cities’ federal advocacy committees are the voice of America’s 19,000 cities, towns, and villages to leaders in Washington,” said National League of Cities President and Louisville, Kentucky Councilmember Kevin Kramer. “I am thrilled to work with Councilmember Andrews and look forward to supporting her goals and ideas as she serves on the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee this year, helping to strengthen the partnership between local and federal leaders.”
The 2026 EENR Committee will be led by Chair Jan Kulmann, Mayor of Thornton, Colorado; Vice Chair Abbie Kamin, Councilmember from Houston, Texas; and Vice Chair Elise Partin, Mayor of Cayce, South Carolina.
