Citywide Street Tree Planting | November 2025
The City’s annual street tree planting program is set to begin this November. Under the new contract, Thorpe Landscaping will plant more than 600 trees throughout the community by the end of the year. These trees will be installed in the public right-of-way in front of residential properties. A detailed map, including planting locations, addresses, and tree species, is available for public viewing.
This initiative is part of the City’s ongoing effort to replace aging and diseased street trees. Recent removals of overmature Laurel Oaks — identified as potential hazards to pedestrians and vehicles — have created new opportunities for replanting. Additionally, a comprehensive stump grinding project has cleared the way for the next generation of urban trees.
The planting plan features a diverse mix of urban-tolerant tree species selected to enhance the resilience and sustainability of our urban canopy. Trees will range in size from 2.5” to 3.5” caliper ball-and-burlap canopy trees, along with 8-foot understory trees. Each tree will undergo individual inspection to ensure it meets the American Standard for Nursery Stock (ANSI Z60.1). The contract also includes an 18-month maintenance period following installation, which covers regular watering and care.
