Dawson Wooster Streetscape

Dawson and Wooster streets serve as a primary entrance and exit to the city. Planned improvements for the roadways include hardscaping, landscaping, and pedestrian amenities.

Eastwood Road

Work has begun to improve the look and function of Eastwood Road between Bretonshire Road and Cavalier Drive.

Fifth Avenue Street, Sidewalk, And Water Utility Improvement Project

Fifth Avenue will undergo major upgrades from mid-2023 into 2025 including: street resurfacing, sidewalk repairs, stormwater drain improvements, and a full replacement of water and sewer utilities. Once completed, Fifth Avenue will be restriped to include one lane for vehicular traffic, ample on-street parking, and a dedicated bike lane in both directions.

Greenville Loop Trail

The City of Wilmington is in the design and construction phase of Greenville Loop Trail, which has been split into four phases to expedite completion. The Greenville Loop Trail is part of the rapidly expanding network of multi-use trails being planned and constructed in the city.

Hooker Road Multi-use Path

This Hooker Road multi-use path will run the full length of Hooker Road, connecting UNCW and the Cross City Trail to the existing bike lanes on Wrightsville Avenue.

Kerr Avenue Trail

This 0.7-mile multi-use path along Kerr Avenue will provide a safe pedestrian route from the UNCW campus and College Road to commercial areas north of Market Street via the NCDOT Kerr Avenue project.

Market Street Tree Project

Crews with the City of Wilmington will remove several diseased trees along Market Street, between 12th and 21st streets, later this year. The trees were found to be at an unacceptable risk level, mostly due heart rot, and must be removed for safety reasons. The removed tress will all be replanted next year.

Masonboro Loop Trail

This 1.4-mile multi-use path will run along Masonboro Loop Road, from Navaho Trail to Pine Grove. It will connect nearby neighborhoods such as Andrews Reach and Dawning Creek Way to Parsley Elementary School and provide safe bicycle/pedestrian access to commercial areas along Masonboro Loop Road such as Masonboro Station and Masonboro Commons.

Pine Grove Bridge Replacement

The Pine Grove Drive bridge over Hewletts Creek has been identified as a high priority for replacement in the City's asset management program due to its condition. Future load restrictions are anticipated if the bridge is not replaced. The City has identified two potential options for replacement of the bridge.

Pine Grove Drive

The voter-approved transportation bond included intersection improvements in and around Pine Grove Drive. A comprehensive traffic analysis was conducted to look at the best way to implement these improvements. The analysis looked at the area as a whole, taking into account the ripple effect that occurs when traffic patterns are changed at a nearby location.
