Davis Center at Maides Park

Senior Fit Class

This class provides light exercise, incorporating yoga, light weights, and body weight exercises, for those 55 years of age and older.

When: Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
Cost: Free

Geri Fit Class

Class participants are seated while using a set of light dumbbells. This class rebuilds strength (for those 60 years of age and older) that has been lost through the aging process. Class is offered by New Hanover County Senior Resource Center. Please call 910.798.6400 to register.

When: Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Active Adult Open Gym (55+)

The Davis Center hosts Active Adult (55+) Open Gym, available for shooting and practicing your basketball skills. Basketballs are provided.

Forever Young Travelers Program

Experience adventure and fun with the Forever Young Travelers Program, offering FREE monthly trips designed exclusively for adults 50 and older. Whether you're exploring new destinations or revisiting favorite spots, these exciting trips provide an opportunity to stay active, make new friends, and enjoy enriching experiences. Participants are responsible for bringing their own lunch and spending money, making each trip both affordable and accessible. Come join us and see how every journey keeps us young! Register here!

ASL Class for Beginners!

Join us for a FREE 5-week Beginners American Sign Language (ASL) course at the Davis Center at Maides Park! This engaging and interactive class is designed for those with little to no experience in ASL. You’ll learn basic vocabulary, fingerspelling, simple phrases, and key communication skills to help you start signing with confidence. Register here!

Crafty Mondays

Explore your creative side through arts and crafts alongside fellow community members with similar interests. We strive to engage the community with creative and collaborative events as there are many benefits to getting in tune with your creative side. Some of these include improved self-confidence, mood and overall reduction in daily stress levels. We want to encourage mindfulness and propel our community members into their best mental state so, come join us! Some materials will be provided, and cost may vary dependent on the craft. 


When: second and fourth Mondays of each month

Circle of Friends: Senior Social Club

Visit the MLK Center every Tuesday for a free, fun-filled, active-adult (55+) centered program. Activities will include arts & crafts, bingo, leisurely reading, and games.

When: Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon
Cost: Free 

Crochet with Love

This FREE 16-week beginning crochet class, will introduce you to the basic crochet stitches and their chart symbols. Crochet classes are offered for all skill levels. Please bring your own crochet needles and a crochet hook sized J (4 mm) and G (6 mm) is recommended. Register here!

Egg Hunt for Adults with Disabilities

Here at the City of Wilmington, creativity and inclusion are two of our main core values. We strive to curate events with these in mind. Join us for a fun-filled day of crafts, karaoke, costumes, an egg hunt, and more! This event is exclusive to adults with disabilities and takes place at the MLK Center. We look forward to seeing your best bunny costumes!

Art from the Heart

Community events should be accessible for all. This belief is what inspires our Art from the Heart series, which provides an opportunity for creative expression and meaningful mindful time. Every Tuesday morning, we offer a variety of easy-to-follow arts and crafts activities for adults with disabilities. Snacks will be provided. Register here!

Holiday from the Heart

Each December, we host a holiday edition of Art from the Heart. We will have games, crafts, and snacks so, join us in making art and creativity accessible for all! Register here!
