Bio

JC Lyle moved to Wilmington in 1996 from the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. She has served hundreds of volunteer hours to address basic needs. Her life’s purpose is to help people with that sacred space they call home.

JC is the Senior Regional Director of Eastern NC at Wesley Community Development Corp, a nonprofit commercial real estate firm that works with faith-based organizations and nonprofits build to affordable housing and redevelop their facilities.

Prior to joining Wesley CDC, JC spent 15 years serving as CEO of WARM NC, a grassroots nonprofit home repair ministry. Under her leadership, the organization grew from serving 44 households per year to over 400, enhanced services that improve resident health, and helped establish disaster coalitions that led recovery efforts after Hurricanes Matthew and Florence.

JC earned her MBA (Master of Business Administration) at UNCW's Cameron School of Business.

From March 2018 – August 2024, JC served on the Wilmington Planning Commission where she was elected Chair three times. In 2019, she was appointed by the Speaker of the NC House to the North Carolina Housing Partnership, the advisory board that oversees the state's Housing Trust Fund.

Her public service leadership has been recognized by many local organizations including WILMA Magazine, the YWCA, Wilmington Rotary Club, UNCW, and the Greater Wilmington Business Journal.

JC spends her free time with her friends and her husband, Jared Kerr, a professor at UNCW. They enjoy local beaches and parks with their dogs, traveling, and volunteering at the place they met: Wrightsville United Methodist Church.
