The City of Wilmington is pleased to announce the promotion of Lauren Edwards to Corporate Affairs Director, effective Monday, May 19. Edwards previously served as the city’s Communications Manager, where she oversaw public information, marketing, and communications functions.

“Lauren has earned the confidence of her colleagues across the organization by guiding major initiatives with clarity and vision,” said City Manager Tony Caudle. “She is an exceptional leader and uniquely qualified to maintain and build upon this department’s momentum. I am excited to welcome her into this role and look forward to her team’s future success."

Before joining the City of Wilmington, Edwards served as Vice President of Marketing at the Peace Center for the Performing Arts in Greenville, South Carolina. There, she oversaw both marketing and box office teams and $2 million in annual advertising for the multi-venue performance center. Her leadership played an important role in navigating the COVID pandemic, protecting the center’s $90 million economic impact, and launching a major capital project. She is a proud alumna of Appalachian State University with a degree in Communication.

Edwards succeeds Jerod Patterson, whose last day with the City was May 12, as he moves on to a new professional opportunity. Please join us in congratulating Lauren Edwards as she steps into this important role and begins an exciting new chapter.
