Project Overview
The City of Wilmington is constructing a new Parks Maintenance Facility adjacent to the City’s Operations Complex to improve coordination, enhance service delivery, and better support the employees who care for Wilmington’s parks, urban forestry, and public rights-of-way. This modern, purpose-built facility will strengthen essential operations that keep the city’s public spaces safe, clean, and well-maintained.
The current Parks Maintenance Facility has reached the end of its useful life and is situated in a flood-prone area, presenting ongoing safety and operational challenges. In addition, the North Carolina Department of Transportation will acquire the existing site as part of a future Front Street improvement project, making relocation necessary.
Designed by Huffman Architects and constructed by J.M. Thompson Company, the new facility is located at the corner of Melton and River roads. Built for long-term durability, accessibility, and sustainability, it will provide a safer and more efficient workspace, supporting the City’s commitment to maintaining high-quality public spaces for years to come.
