WPD Honors Excellence at 2025 Promotional and Awards Ceremony

The Wilmington Police Department recognized outstanding service, bravery, and professional achievement during its annual Promotional and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday at the Wilmington Convention Center. Family members, colleagues, and community partners gathered to honor officers and staff whose actions and accomplishments reflect the department’s commitment to public safety.
Life-Saving Awards
Corporal Carlos Sanchez, Officer Christopher Kingston, and Officer Chase Koch received the Life-Saving Award for their swift and decisive actions that directly contributed to saving lives. Their composure and professionalism during critical incidents exemplify the highest standards of service.
Medal of Valor Awards
Corporal Brandon Pineiro, Officer Matthew Chesek, and retired Officer Will Morris received the Medal of Valor, one of the department’s highest honors. The award recognizes extraordinary bravery and courage in the face of imminent danger. Their actions demonstrate exceptional dedication and an unwavering commitment to protecting others.
Chief’s Awards
Captain Thai Guidry and Senior Firefighter Robert Gausman were honored with the Chief’s Award for exemplary leadership, collaboration, and contributions that have strengthened public safety efforts. Their work highlights the importance of strong partnerships across City departments.
Promotions
The ceremony also recognized personnel advancing in their careers. The following individuals were promoted:

- Sergeant: Kendall Murphy, Bryce St. Pierre
- Corporal: Douglas Costello, Joshua Graham, Elizabeth Kistler, Eric Lippert, Kasey McGrath, Wade Rummings, David Savage, Arion Wilkins
- Police Facilities Technician: Twone Bannerman
